Okechukwu Ekenna

MD, MPH, D(ABMM), FACP.

Dr. Ekenna was born in Nigeria. He went to Medical School in Marburg, Germany; and did residency (Internal Medicine) and fellowship training in the USA: Infectious Diseases and Medical and Public Health Microbiology.

He was a member of the faculty at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital in Nigeria (1988-1994): Consultant physician (Medicine and Microbiology).

He is currently in private practice of Infectious Diseases, as consultant: For inpatient and outpatients. He is the Chairman of Infection Prevention and Control Committee, and Infection Control Officer for the Singing River Health System (Ocean Springs and Pascagoula, in Mississippi), where he has admitting and consulting privileges.

He had a faculty appointment as Adjunct Associate Professor of Medicine for 24 years (1998-2022) with the University of South Alabama (USA) in Mobile, Alabama.

Dr. Ekenna is board certified in Internal Medicine (ABIM), Infectious Diseases (ABIM), Medical and Public Health Microbiology (ABMM), as well as certified in Clinical Tropical Medicine and Travelers’ Health (ASTMH).
