The African Initiative Group

To improve the health and welfare of persons of African origin by fostering scientific collaboration.

Objectives of The Group

  • To formulate ways to address more effectively the microbiological needs of the various countries in Africa and the African Diaspora.
  • To make recommendations to ASM and or Other Agencies which have the financial resources to help, improve or implement our plan of action. .
  • To bring together in the spirit of friendship and brotherhood, people of African Origin and their descendants. 
  • To facilitate scholarship support for students in the field of microbiology who are in need of financial aid
  • To be a creative and active force in ASM for promoting the best and most promising scientists of African descent.. 
  • To foster, through periodic and annual meetings, a spirit of good fellowship and cooperation within ASM and with other microbiological organizations.
